Abstract
La investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la frecuencia del manejo del dolor dental con automedicación farmacológica y medicina tradicional alternativa en pacientes adultos de 30 a 50 años del Centro de Salud Campo Marte, Paucarpata–Arequipa, 2026. Se realizó un estudio de tipo básico, descriptivo, de corte transversal prospectivo y diseño descriptivo simple. La muestra estuvo conformada por 183 pacientes, seleccionados mediante muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Los resultados evidenciaron que el 52,5% de los pacientes recurrió a la automedicación farmacológica y el 32,8% utilizó medicina tradicional alternativa; además, el ibuprofeno y el clavo de olor fueron los recursos más utilizados para aliviar el dolor dental. Se concluyó que la automedicación farmacológica fue la práctica predominante, seguida de la medicina tradicional alternativa, por lo que es necesario fortalecer la educación y promover la atención odontológica oportuna.
The research aimed to determine the frequency of dental pain management with pharmacological self-medication and traditional alternative medicine in adult patients aged 30 to 50 years at the Campo Marte Health Center, Paucarpata–Arequipa, 2026. A basic, descriptive, prospective cross-sectional study with a simple descriptive design was conducted. The sample consisted of 183 patients, selected using non-probability convenience sampling. The results showed that 52.5% of patients resorted to pharmacological self-medication and 32.8% used traditional alternative medicine; furthermore, ibuprofen and cloves were the most frequently used remedies for dental pain relief. It was concluded that pharmacological self-medication was the predominant practice, followed by traditional alternative medicine, highlighting the need to strengthen education and promote timely dental care.
