Abstract
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto diurético del extracto etanólico de hojas de Trema micranthum (L.) Blume (atadijo) en ratas albinas. La metodología correspondió a una investigación de tipo básico, con diseño experimental, prospectivo y longitudinal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 15 ratas albinas de la cepa Holtzman. Los resultados evidenciaron actividad diurética dosis-dependiente, siendo la dosis de 800 mg/kg la más efectiva, con una excreción urinaria de 14,3 mL y una actividad relativa del 74 % respecto a la furosemida. El porcentaje de excreción volumétrica urinaria confirmó esta tendencia. Se concluyó que el extracto etanólico de Trema micranthum posee un efecto diurético significativo, asociado a la presencia de saponinas y flavonoides, lo que respalda su uso tradicional.

The methodology was a basic research study with a prospective, longitudinal, experimental design. The sample consisted of 15 Holtzman albino rats. The results showed dose-dependent diuretic activity, with the 800 mg/kg dose being the most effective, producing a urinary excretion of 14.3 mL and a relative activity of 74% compared to furosemide. The percentage of urinary volumetric excretion confirmed this trend. It was concluded that the ethanolic extract of Trema micranthum has a significant diuretic effect, associated with the presence of saponins and flavonoids, which supports its traditional use.
