Abstract
El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la actividad antidepresiva in vivo del extracto hidroalcohólico de hojas secas de Ocimum basilicum L. en ratones albinos. Se utilizaron 30 animales distribuidos en cinco grupos (control, diazepam 1 mg/kg y extracto a 50, 100 y 200 mg/kg VO), aplicando pruebas fitoquímicas y el Laberinto en Cruz Elevada. Los resultados mostraron presencia de flavonoides y compuestos fenólicos, así como un aumento dosis-dependiente de entradas a brazos abiertos. El análisis ANOVA evidenció diferencias significativas (p<0.05), siendo la dosis de 200 mg/kg comparable al diazepam. Se concluye que el extracto presenta actividad antidepresiva significativa sobre el sistema nervioso central.
This study aimed to determine the in vivo antidepressant activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of dried Ocimum basilicum L. leaves in albino mice. Thirty animals were divided into five groups (control, diazepam 1 mg/kg, and extract at 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg orally), and phytochemical tests and the Elevated Cross Maze were performed. The results showed the presence of flavonoids and phenolic compounds, as well as a dose-dependent increase in entries into open arms. ANOVA analysis revealed significant differences (p<0.05), with the 200 mg/kg dose being comparable to diazepam. It is concluded that the extract exhibits significant antidepressant activity on the central nervous system.
