Abstract
The objective of the study was to demonstrate the antibacterial effect of the essential oil and ethanolic extract of Capparis ovalifolia (Vichayo) against Staphylococcus aureus. The quantitative, applied, prospective study of experimental design, the study population was Capparis ovalifolia (Vichayo), concentrations of these were prepared at 50% and 100% and their antibacterial effect was evaluated by well diffusion method. The inhibition halos of the ethanolic extract were 11.07+022mm for 50%, 12.97+0.31mm for 100%; the oil at 50% and 100% obtained inhibition halos of 11.39+0.34mm and 13.93+0.27mm. The essential oil and ethanolic extract of Capparis ovalifolia (Vichayo) at 50% and 100% showed antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923
