Actividad antibacteriana in vitro del extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas de Mirabilis jalapa L. “maravilla” frente a Salmonella typhimurium.

Abstract

El objetivo de la investigación es determinar la actividad antibacteriana in vitro del extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas de Mirabilis jalapa L. (maravilla) frente a Salmonella typhimurium”. Para llevar a cabo la investigación se aplicó un diseño experimental; la muestra vegetal estuvo representada por 100 g de “maravilla”, y la muestra microbiológica fue la cepa de Salmonella typhimurium. La evaluación de la actividad antibacteriana del extracto hidroalcohólico a diferentes concentraciones,se realizó por el método de difusión en agar. Los resultados a la actividad antibacteriana, se evidenció halos de inhibición de 6 mm de igual medida al control negativo (agua destilada). Se concluye que el extracto hidroalcohólico de las hojas de Mirabilis jalapa L. “maravilla”, no mostró actividad antibacteriana frente la cepa de Salmonella typhimurium.

The objective of the research is to determine the in vitro antibacterial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Mirabilis jalapa L. (maravilla) leaves against Salmonella typhimurium. To carry out the research, an experimental design was applied; the plant sample was represented by 100 g of "maravilla", and the microbiological sample was the Salmonella typhimurium strain. The evaluation of the antibacterial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract at different concentrations was carried out by the agar diffusion method. The results of the antibacterial activity showed inhibition halos of 6 mm of the same size as the negative control (distilled water). It is concluded that the hydroalcoholic extract of Mirabilis jalapa L. "maravilla" leaves did not show antibacterial activity against the Salmonella typhimurium strain.
