Abstract

As a method, a basic type and descriptive level was used, with a non-experimental, prospective and cross-sectional design, the study sample was represented by one liter of irrigation water; the technique used to quantify heavy metals was atomic absorption. The results found were: Pb at <0.04 ppm, Cd at <0.02 ppm and As at <0.002 ppm. The Cd concentrations found exceed the levels established by the Environmental Quality Standards for water. In conclusion, considerable Cd contamination is demonstrated in the irrigation water of crops.
