Abstract
The research is of basic type as a non-experimental, descriptive, observational and transversal methodological design. The objective of the research was to determine the levels of lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic in the irrigation waters of the Chancay-Huaral river. The technique used to quantify the heavy metals used in this research was flame atomic absorption, which was carried out at the National Engineering University (UNI). The average concentrations of heavy metals were: lead less than 0.03 ppm, cadmium less than 0.008 ppm, mercury less than 5.0 ppm and arsenic less than 1.0 ppm. The results show a high contamination of the irrigation waters of the Chancay-Huaral river by mercury and arsenic.
