Nivel de Conocimiento sobre Higiene Oral y Placa Bacteriana en pacientes adultos que asisten al Consultorio Dental Pomadent Huarmey – 2025

Abstract

El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre higiene oral y la placa bacteriana en pacientes adultos que asisten al consultorio dental Pomadent Huarmey – 2025. Fue una investigación descriptiva, transversal y correlacional, con una población y muestra de 50 usuarios, enfoque censal. Los resultados mostraron que no existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre higiene oral y la cantidad de placa bacteriana (ρ = 0.162; p = 0.262), a pesar que el 88% de los participantes mostró un nivel regular de conocimiento. Se concluye que conocer sobre higiene oral no garantiza una adecuada práctica, lo que evidencia la necesidad de reforzar estrategias educativas que promuevan también hábitos efectivos de higiene bucal en la población atendida.

The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about oral hygiene and bacterial plaque in adult patients attending the Pomadent Huarmey dental office - 2025. It was a descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational research, with a population and sample of 50 users, census approach. The results showed that there is no statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge about oral hygiene and the amount of bacterial plaque (ρ = 0.162; p = 0.262), although 88% of the participants showed a regular level of knowledge. It is concluded that knowledge about oral hygiene does not guarantee adequate practice, which evidences the need to reinforce educational strategies that also promote effective oral hygiene habits in the population served.
