Abstract

The method used was a non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional design; the data collection instruments were Palomino's questionnaire and Rocano's observation guide. As results, 8.8% of mothers have high knowledge and good practices, 1.5% have poor practices and low knowledge, and 48.5% have good practices and average knowledge. In conclusion, it was determined that there is no significant relationship between the variables knowledge and practices on breastfeeding in the population studied, with a weak correlation (p-value of 0.148 and a significance level of 0.177) obtained with Kendall's nonparametric Tau b test.
