Abstract
The objective was to evaluate the diuretic effect of the ethanolic extract of Annona reticulata L. (red custard apple) leaves in albino rats. As method, an experimental, prospective, longitudinal and explanatory level design was used. The plant sample was 250 grams of Annona reticulata L. (red custard apple) leaves; and the animal sample was 20 albino rats. The technique used was observation and observation card. In conclusion, the diuretic activity was 0.67, 0.73, 0.89 at the doses of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg with respect to furosemide which was 1.0. It is concluded that the extract of Annona reticulata L. (red custard apple), at 100 mg/kg presents a low diuretic activity; while the extracts at 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg present a moderate diuretic activity.
