Conocimiento y uso tradicional del Piper Aduncum para prevenir enfermedades respiratorias en usuarios de la Botica Ahorrofarma, Huancayo – 2024

Abstract

El estudio determinó la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento y el uso tradicional de Piper aduncum para prevenir enfermedades respiratorias. La investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo, nivel descriptivo-correlacional, diseño no experimental y corte transversal. La muestra fue de 160 usuarios. El 98,8% presentó un nivel alto de conocimiento sobre el uso tradicional del Piper aduncum. El 71,3% señaló utilizarlo rara vez y el 21,9% indicó no utilizarlo para prevenir enfermedades respiratorias. La infusión fue la forma de consumo más frecuente y el 75,0% consideró efectivo al matico. El 95,6% manifestó no haber presentado reacciones adversas asociadas a su uso. No se encontró relación significativa entre conocimiento y uso tradicional (ρ=0,045; p=0,573), concluyéndose que el conocimiento no determina su utilización.
The study determined the relationship between the level of knowledge and the traditional use of *Piper aduncum* for preventing respiratory diseases. The research employed a quantitative approach, a descriptive-correlational level, a non-experimental design, and a cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 160 users. 98.8% demonstrated a high level of knowledge regarding the traditional use of *Piper aduncum*. 71.3% reported using it rarely, while 21.9% indicated they did not use it to prevent respiratory diseases. Infusion was the most common method of consumption, and 75.0% considered *matico* to be effective. 95.6% stated they had not experienced any adverse reactions associated with its use. No significant relationship was found between knowledge and traditional use (ρ=0.045; p=0.573), leading to the conclusion that knowledge does not determine its use.
