Abstract
The present research aims to determine the antifungal effect of the essential oil of Origanum vulgare (oregano) on Candida albicans. As a result, inhibition halos of 19.12 mm, 16.57 mm and 15.46 mm were obtained for the essential oil of Origanum vulgare at 100%, 75% and 50%, respectively; the positive and negative controls obtained halos of 36.07 mm and 6.07 mm, respectively; nystatin showed greater antifungal activity than oregano oil. In conclusion, the antifungal effect of Origanum vulgare (oregano) essential oil on Candida albicans was determined.
