The objective of this research was to determine the practices regarding the storage and disposal of medications in the households of CIAM (Comprehensive Center for Older Adults) beneficiaries in Chilca. The study was basic research, descriptive in nature, and employed a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 180 older adults, who completed a 23-item questionnaire with dichotomous (yes/no) questions. Results: Regarding storage, the average rate of appropriate practices was 43.9%; the "location and storage site" dimension was the most deficient (37.8%), while the "therapeutic group" dimension showed the best performance (48.9%). Regarding disposal, the average rate of appropriate practices was 31.1%; the "disposal method" dimension was the most critical (24.6%), while "habits and customs" showed the best performance (41.1%). Furthermore, 79.4% of participants dispose of their medications in the trash or down the toilet. Conclusion: Medication storage and disposal practices in the households of CIAM Chilca beneficiaries were largely inadequate, with the most significant deficiencies found in disposal practices.
