Abstract
El objetivo fue determinar las características del consumo de suplementos vitamínicos en adultos mayores. En la metodología el Estudio descriptivo, no experimental y de corte transversal. Con una muestra de 90 usuarios de una botica en Huancayo, 2025. El Instrumento fue la encuesta validada con confiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach = 0,82. El resultado nos dio que el 75,56% consume estos productos habitualmente. Y el motivo principal fue la percepción de dieta deficiente (62,22%). Y solo el 24,44% lo hace por indicación médica. Lo que más predomina es el varón de 60 a 70 años, nivel educativo superior y economía regular. En conclusión, existe y hay una alta prevalencia de consumo y automedicación sin control profesional.
The objective was to determine the characteristics of vitamin supplement consumption among older adults. The methodology employed was a descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 90 users of a pharmacy in Huancayo, Peru, in 2025. The instrument used was a validated survey with a Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.82. The results showed that 75.56% of participants regularly consume these products. The primary reason cited was a perceived deficient diet (62.22%), while only 24.44% did so on medical advice. The predominant demographic was men aged 60 to 70 years, with higher education levels and average incomes. In conclusion, there is a high prevalence of consumption and self-medication without professional supervision.
