Abstract
The objective of this research work was to determine the antifungal effect of Plantago major compared to nystatin against Candida albicans, being the methodology, transversal, prospective, experimental design, 3kg of plantago major leaves were used. The mean values of inhibition halos obtained were 12.62+0.54mm for the 50% extract of plantain, 14.59+0.31mm for the 100% extract of plantain, the negative control (ethanol) presented an inhibition halo of 6.12+0.21mm; the positive control (nystatin) presented an average inhibition halo of 24.20+0.37mm. In conclusion, Plantago majjor "Llanten" presented a lower antifungal effect compared to nystatin against Candida albicans
