Abstract

Methodologically, it was a quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and prospective study. A census sample of 150 users was evaluated using a structured questionnaire. The results revealed that 80% possessed a high level of knowledge, primarily concentrated among those aged 20 to 29. Furthermore, 69.3% administered the medication optimally within the first 24 hours. The study concluded that, despite the high level of theoretical knowledge and the promptness of administration, there is a misuse of the emergency contraceptive method, evidenced by its recurrent and inappropriate use as a routine resource.
