Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate microbial contamination affecting biosafety in the Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Unit of a hospital in Huancayo during 2023. The methodology was basic, descriptive, and non-experimental. The sample consisted of 18 surfaces distributed across the white, gray, and black areas of the unit. The results showed the presence of Enterococcus spp. with an average of 96,193 CFU/plate, fungi and yeasts with 40,004 CFU, Enterobacteriaceae with 21,939 CFU/plate, Staphylococcus spp. with 7,810 CFU/plate, Clostridium spp. with 5,774 CFU/plate, and Neisseria spp. with 2,309 CFU/plate. It was concluded that the evaluated surfaces meet acceptable microbiological ranges, contributing to the maintenance of biosafety conditions in the TPN Unit.
