Abstract
La investigación tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre la prevalencia de caries dental y el nivel de conocimiento sobre higiene oral en estudiantes de la I.E. N°40122 Manuel Escorza Torres de Arequipa, 2025. El estudio fue de diseño descriptivo, observacional, nivel prospectivo-correlacional de corte transversal. La muestra fue de 100 estudiantes de 9 a 11 años. El resultado fue que el 97 % de los escolares tienen un nivel bajo de conocimiento sobre higiene oral, el 3 % un nivel. Así mismo, se evidenciaron una correlación negativa y moderada (Rho de Spearman = -0,524) y un valor de significancia bilateral (p=0,000). En conclusión, la mayoría de los estudiantes presentan un bajo nivel de conocimiento en higiene oral y una prevalencia moderada de caries, destacando la necesidad de fortalecer la educación en salud bucal desde el ámbito escolar.
The general objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the prevalence of dental caries and the level of knowledge about oral hygiene in students of the Manuel Escorza Torres School No. 40122 in Arequipa, 2025. The study employed a descriptive, observational, prospective-correlational, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 100 students aged 9 to 11 years.
