Abstract
En el presente trabajo de investigación se planteó como objetivo “evaluar la actividad antibacteriana del extracto hidroalcohólico de hojas de Mirabilis jalapa L. (maravilla) frente a Escherichia coli ATCC 8739”. Se aplicó un diseño experimental, prospectivo y transversal, La muestra vegetal estuvo constituida por 250 gramos de hojas de Mirabilis jalapa L. “maravilla” y la muestra biológica estuvo representada por cepa de Escherichia coli ATCC 8739. Se aplicó el método por difusión en agar. Se determinó la solubilidad sólo en solventes polares; presencia de compuestos fenólicos, taninos, flavonoides y alcaloides. El ensayo antimicrobiano concluye que el extracto hidroalcohólico de hojas de Mirabilis jalapa L. No muestra actividad antibacteriana frente a Escherichia coli.
The objective of this research was "to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Mirabilis jalapa L. (maravilla) leaves against Escherichia coli ATCC 8739". An experimental, prospective and transversal design was applied. The plant sample consisted of 250 grams of leaves of Mirabilis jalapa L. "maravilla" and the biological sample was represented by a strain of Escherichia coli ATCC 8739. The agar diffusion method was applied. Solubility was determined only in polar solvents; presence of phenolic compounds, tannins, flavonoids and alkaloids. The antimicrobial assay concludes that the hydroalcoholic extract of Mirabilis jalapa L. leaves does not show antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli.
