Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the healing effect of a topical cream formulated with a hydroalcoholic extract of dried leaves of Althaea officinalis L. (marshmallow) in a murine incisional model. The experimental design used a murine model and adopted an applied approach. Thirty albino mice were divided into five groups and treated with a base cream, Cicatricure®, and formulations containing 1%, 5%, and 10% extract. The strength of the healed tissue was assessed using a tensile strength test. The results showed significant differences between the groups (p<0.001), with the 5% and 10% formulations being particularly effective, comparable to the positive control. In conclusion, the Althaea officinalis cream exhibited a concentration-dependent healing effect, being most effective at concentrations of 5% and above.
