Abstract
La presente investigación tiene por objetivo determinar los factores asociados a la automedicación con antiparasitarios en niños que acuden al Hospital Regional Docente Materno Infantil el Carmen. La metodología usada fue el aplicativo, descriptivo, prospectivo, fue no experimental, transversal; la muestra lo constituyeron 79 padres de los niños. En los resultados se determinó que el 36,7% automedican a sus niños para aliviar cualquier síntoma, el 93,7% administro medicamentos sin receta, el 41,8 % automedico por falta de dinero para llevarlos a consulta médica, el 59,5 % automedican con antiparasitarios de 2 a 5 meses y el 34,2 % se administró antiparasitarios porque no tenían apetito. El fármaco más utilizado fue el Mebendazol 49,4 %. En conclusión existe una alta prevalencia de parasitosis intestinal en los niños.

The methodology used was applied, descriptive, prospective, non-experimental, cross-sectional; the sample consisted of 79 parents of the children. In the results it was determined that 36.7% self-medicate their children to alleviate any symptom, 93.7% administered medicines without prescription, 41.8% self-medicated for lack of money to take them to a doctor's office, 59.5% self-medicated with antiparasitics from 2 to 5 months and 34.2% administered antiparasitics because they had no appetite. The most commonly used drug was Mebendazole 49.4%. In conclusion, there is a high prevalence of intestinal parasitosis in children.
