Abstract
The research evaluated the effect of the ethanolic extract of Tropaeolum majus "mastuerzo" on Candida albicans strains in vitro. The basic experimental methodology was randomized. The ethanolic extract was obtained by maceration, in concentrations of 100%,70%,40%,25% and 6% in vitro with enriched medium of Sabouraud agar on Candida albicans strains, evaluating the effect by means of the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method, comparing its effectiveness with nystatin 10 000 IUI. Obtaining. Results showed that Candida albicans is inhibited sensitively at 40%, 70% and very sensitively at 100%, concluding that the ethanolic extract of Tropaeolum majus has an antifungal effect in vitro at concentrations of 40%, 70% and 100%
