Relación entre hábitos bucales y maloclusión en niños atendidos en la Clínica Odontológica Callirgos, 2025.

Abstract

El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre hábitos bucales y maloclusión en niños atendidos en la Clínica Odontológica Callirgos en 2025. Fue una investigación básica, transversal, retrospectiva y correlacional, con una muestra de 160 historias clínicas de niños de 6 a 12 años. Se analizaron hábitos como succión digital, onicofagia, interposición labial y lingual, y respiración bucal, así como tipos de maloclusión vertical, transversal y anteroposterior. La prevalencia de hábitos bucales fue alta, destacando la respiración bucal (38%) y la succión digital (28%). La maloclusión más frecuente fue la anteroposterior (63%), seguida de la vertical (28%) y transversal (9%). Se concluyó que existe relación significativa entre los hábitos bucales y las maloclusiones.
The study aimed to determine the relationship between oral habits and malocclusion in children treated at the Callirgos Dental Clinic in 2025. It was a basic, cross-sectional, retrospective, and correlational study with a sample of 160 medical records of children aged 6 to 12 years. Habits such as thumb sucking, nail biting, lip and tongue thrusting, and mouth breathing were analyzed, as well as types of vertical, transverse, and anteroposterior malocclusion. The prevalence of oral habits was high, with mouth breathing (38%) and thumb sucking (28%) being the most common. The most frequent malocclusion was anteroposterior (63%), followed by vertical (28%) and transverse (9%). It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between oral habits and malocclusions.
