Abstract
Objetivo: Demostrar la actividad antibacteriana del extracto etanólico de la flor de overo “Cordia lutea Lam” frente a Staphylococcus aureus. Método: Prospectivo y experimental; se elaboró un extracto etanólico por maceración con las flores de Cordia lutea y su actividad antibacteriana se halló por el método del Kirby-Bauer; el control positivo fue el ciprofloxacino y el negativo etanol. Resultados: El extracto al 100 y 75% presentaron halos de inhibición de 14.85mm, 12.64mm, el control positivo 23.93mm y el control negativo 6.21mm. Conclusión: El extracto etanólico de “Cordia lutea Lam” al 100 y 75% presentó actividad antibacteriana frente a Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923
