Abstract
Tuvo como objetivo demostrar la actividad antimicótica del gel formulado a base de aceite esencial de Origanum vulgare L (orégano) frente a Candida albicans. El estudio fue experimental, el aceite de orégano se obtuvo por arrastre de vapor y se determinó: pureza del aceite y solubilidad, concentración mínima inhibitoria (CMI). Se elaboró un gel a base de aceite de orégano (2.5% y 5%) y se aplicó método de difusión en pozo. El aceite fue soluble en etanol de 96°; la CMI fue 2.5%, los halos de inhibición fueron: 14.75mm, 17.67mm y 22.45mm para el gel al 2.5%, al 5% y el clotrimazol respectivamente. Se demostró la actividad antimicótica frente a C. albicans del gel de orégano al 2.5% y 5%, pero, la eficacia fue menor comparado con clotrimazol
The objective of the study was to demonstrate the antifungal activity of the gel formulated with essential oil of Origanum vulgare L (oregano) against Candida albicans. The study was experimental, oregano oil was obtained by vapor entrainment and the following were determined: oil purity and solubility, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). A gel based on oregano oil (2.5% and 5%) was prepared and a well diffusion method was applied. The oil was soluble in 96° ethanol; the MIC was 2.5%, the inhibition halos were: 14.75 mm, 17.67 mm and 22.45 mm for the 2.5%, 5% and clotrimazole gels, respectively. The antifungal activity against C. albicans of oregano gel at 2.5% and 5% was demonstrated, but the efficacy was lower compared to clotrimazole
