Abstract
The aim of this work was to determine the sensitivity of Streptococcus mutans culture against the antibacterial action of Foeniculum vulgare extracts. The well diffusion method was applied to determine the sensitivity to the extracts. According to the results, inhibition halos of 11.24+0.249nm were obtained for the 50% ethanolic extract of fennel, 14.69+0.34mm for the 100% ethanolic extract of fennel, the negative control (ethanol) presented an inhibition halo of 6.10+0.18mm; the positive control (Ciprofloxacin) presented an average inhibition halo of 33.53+0.34mm. It was concluded that Streptococcus mutans is sensitive to the antibacterial action of ethanol extracts of Foeniculum vulgare
