Abstract
El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el efecto cicatrizante de una crema a base del extracto hidroalcohólico de hojas secas de Bixa orellana L. (achiote) en ratones albinos. Se realizó una investigación experimental con 30 ratones distribuidos en cinco grupos: control negativo, control positivo (sulfadiazina de plata 1 %) y tres grupos tratados con crema de achiote al 1 %, 5 % y 10 %. La cicatrización se evaluó mediante la prueba de resistencia a la tensión del tejido cicatrizado. Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas entre los grupos (p < 0,05), destacando la concentración al 5 % con mayor efecto cicatrizante. Se concluye que la crema de Bixa orellana L. presenta actividad cicatrizante significativa en ratones albinos.
The study aimed to determine the wound-healing effect of a cream based on the hydroalcoholic extract of dried Bixa orellana L. (annatto) leaves in albino mice. An experimental investigation was conducted with 30 mice divided into five groups: a negative control, a positive control (1% silver sulfadiazine), and three groups treated with annatto cream at concentrations of 1%, 5%, and 10%. Wound healing was assessed using the tensile strength test of the scar tissue. The results showed significant differences between the groups (p < 0.05), with the 5% concentration exhibiting the greatest wound-healing effect. It was concluded that Bixa orellana L. cream demonstrates significant wound-healing activity in albino mice.
