Abstract
El objetivo fue evaluar la actividad hipoglucemiante del extracto hidroalcohólico de hojas de Piper carpunya en ratas albinas con hiperglucemia inducida por aloxano. La metodología consistió en una investigación explicativa, de diseño experimental-analítico, con tamizaje fitoquímico, medición de glucosa y análisis mediante ANOVA y Tukey. La muestra estuvo conformada por 1 kg de hojas y 20 ratas distribuidas en cinco grupos. Los resultados mostraron reducciones de glucemia de 19,3 % y 20,8 % con 750 y 1000 mg/kg en seis horas. Se concluye que el extracto posee actividad hipoglucemiante dosis-dependiente, aunque menor que la insulina.
The objective was to evaluate the hypoglycemic activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Piper carpunya leaves in albino rats with alloxan-induced hyperglycemia. The methodology consisted of an explanatory, experimental-analytical study with phytochemical screening, glucose measurement, and analysis using ANOVA and Tukey's test. The sample comprised 1 kg of leaves and 20 rats distributed into five groups. The results showed blood glucose reductions of 19.3% and 20.8% with 750 and 1000 mg/kg, respectively, over six hours. It was concluded that the extract possesses dose-dependent hypoglycemic activity, although less than that of insulin.
