Abstract
El objetivo fue determinar la relación entre los índices antropométricos y su capacidad de predicción en la detección del síndrome metabólico en niños de 10 a 15 años de edad del distrito de Magdalena. El método fue descriptivo. La población fue 70 niños de entre 10 a 15 años de edad. Los datos se obtuvieron gracias a los instrumentos como fichas de datos y cuestionarios llevados luego a la base de datos de Excel. Los resultados fueron: de 70 niños, 42 son niños y 28 niñas. 27 del total realizan actividades físicas y 43 no lo hacen. Existe un gran número de niños con problemas de sobrepeso y obesidad. Concluyendo que los índices antropométricos si tiene la capacidad de detectar la existencia de los componentes del síndrome metabólico.
The objective was to determine the relationship between anthropometric indices and their predictive capacity in the detection of metabolic syndrome in children aged 10 to 15 years in the district of Magdalena. The method was descriptive. The population was 70 children between 10 and 15 years of age. The data were obtained thanks to instruments such as data sheets and questionnaires, which were then entered into an Excel database. The results were: out of 70 children, 42 are boys and 28 are girls. Of the total, 27 are physically active and 43 are not. There is a large number of children with overweight and obesity problems. We conclude that anthropometric indices do have the capacity to detect the existence of the components of the metabolic syndrome.
