| dc.description.abstract | The study was of an applied nature with an experimental design. The plant material consisted of 300 g of *Hypericum laricifolium* leaves, while the biological sample comprised 25 albino mice divided into five groups of five animals each: a negative control (base gel), a positive control (1% diclofenac), and treatment groups using gels containing 1%, 3%, and 5% of the extract. Anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using a xylene-induced ear edema model; three hours after treatment, ear discs were collected using a biopsy punch and weighed to calculate the difference and the percentage of inhibition. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and total polyphenols, while no alkaloids were detected. The 1%, 3%, and 5% gels achieved inhibition rates of 11.89%, 18.05%, and 23.13%, respectively, whereas 1% diclofenac showed an inhibition rate of 29.29%. The Shapiro-Wilk test yielded significance values greater than 0.05 for the groups, supporting the assumption of normality. ANOVA indicated statistically significant differences between the groups (F = 827.292; p < 0.001), which were further analyzed using Tukey’s HSD test. It was concluded that the gel containing the hydroalcoholic extract of *Hypericum laricifolium* exhibited concentration-dependent anti-inflammatory activity, with the 5% formulation showing the highest activity among the experimental treatments. | |
