Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar las maloclusiones dentales asociadas a la respiración bucal en estudiantes de segundo a cuarto grado del nivel primario de la Institución Educativa Francisco Bolognesi Cervantes 2053. El método fue básico, observacional, correlacional, transversal, descriptivo y cuantitativo. La muestra estuvo conformada por 213 estudiantes de segundo a cuarto grado del nivel primario. Los resultados muestran la presencia de maloclusión clase II con un 12.7% siendo este el de mayor porcentaje, a la maloclusión clase I con un 8.9%, seguido de maloclusión clase III con un 1.9% y por último a la normoclusión con un 0.9% de estudiantes con presencia de respiración bucal. En cuanto a la frecuencia de respiración bucal se encontró un 24.4% de casos. En conclusión, sí existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre maloclusiones y estudiantes con presencia de respiración bucal (p<0.05).
The objective of this research was to determine the dental malocclusions associated with mouth breathing in students from second to fourth grade of the primary level of the Francisco Bolognesi Cervantes 2053 Educational Institution. The method was basic, observational, correlational, cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative. The sample consisted of 213 students from second to fourth grade of primary school. The results show the presence of class II malocclusion with 12.7% being the highest percentage, class I malocclusion with 8.9%, followed by class III malocclusion with 1.9% and finally normocclusion with 0.9% of students with the presence of mouth breathing. As for the frequency of mouth breathing, 24.4% of cases were found. In conclusion, there is a statistically significant relationship between malocclusion and students with the presence of mouth breathing (p<0.05).
