Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the diuretic effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (Neem) leaves in albino rats. The research was basic, with an experimental, prospective, and longitudinal design. Initially, a phytochemical screening was performed to identify the main secondary metabolites present in the extract. Subsequently, to evaluate the diuretic effect, 15 albino rats were randomly assigned to five groups: a negative control (physiological saline), a positive control (furosemide 40 mg/kg), and three experimental groups treated with the hydroalcoholic extract of Azadirachta indica leaves at doses of 250, 500, and 750 mg/kg. The study concluded that the hydroalcoholic extract has a moderate diuretic effect.
