Abstract
La investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto diurético del extracto etanólico de las hojas de Otholobium glandulosum “Culén” en ratas albinas. Se realizó un estudio aplicado, experimental, prospectivo y longitudinal, con una muestra de 25 ratas distribuidas en cinco grupos. Se empleó el método de Lipschitz, registrándose el volumen urinario a la 1, 3 y 6 horas. La actividad diurética fue de 44 %, 66 % y 74 % para las dosis de 200, 400 y 600 mg/kg, respectivamente, con diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p < 0,001). Se concluyó que el extracto presentó efecto diurético, siendo la dosis de 600 mg/kg la más efectiva, aunque inferior a la furosemida.
The study aimed to evaluate the diuretic effect of the ethanolic extract of *Otholobium glandulosum* ("Culén") leaves in albino rats. An applied, experimental, prospective, and longitudinal study was conducted using a sample of 25 rats divided into five groups. The Lipschitz method was employed, with urine volume recorded at 1, 3, and 6 hours. Diuretic activity was 44%, 66%, and 74% for doses of 200, 400, and 600 mg/kg, respectively, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.001). It was concluded that the extract exhibited a diuretic effect, with the 600 mg/kg dose being the most effective, although less so than furosemide.
