Abstract

The study aimed to determine the wound-healing effect of an ointment formulated with a hydroalcoholic extract of dried *Schinus molle* L. ("molle") bark in albino mice. A quantitative, applied, experimental study of an explanatory nature was conducted. The sample consisted of 30 albino mice, randomly distributed into five groups of six animals each. An incisional wound model was used, and treatments were administered topically every 12 hours for seven days. The wound-healing effect was evaluated by measuring the tensile strength of the repaired tissue on the eighth day. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of phenolic compounds, flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, and triterpenes. Mean tensile strength values were 0.583 N for the vehicle control, 1.172 N for the 2% ointment, 1.382 N for the 5% ointment, 1.700 N for the 10% ointment, and 1.853 N for Cicatricure®. ANOVA analysis showed significant differences between groups (F(4,25)=439.111; p<0.001), which were confirmed by the Tukey test. It was concluded that the *Schinus molle* L. ointment exhibited a significant wound-healing effect, with the greatest effect observed at the 10% concentration.
