Abstract
This study aimed to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and dental caries in primary school children at a public educational institution in Huaura, Peru, in 2024. The results showed that 46.0% of the children were underweight, 44.0% had a normal BMI, and 10.0% were overweight; additionally, a low level of dental caries predominated (61.7%). Spearman's Rho analysis yielded a coefficient of 0.431 (p < 0.001), demonstrating a moderate, statistically significant positive relationship. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between body mass index and dental caries among the schoolchildren evaluated.
