Abstract
The primary objective was to determine the prevalence of surgical complications at the Dental Clinic of the Professional School of Stomatology at UPHFR (Huancayo, 2025). This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted with 60 students, using systematic observation and a pre-established data collection form (Velásquez, 2015). The most frequent overall complications were pain (37.9%), alveolar osteitis (27.3%), and edema (12.1%). During the intraoperative phase, pain was the most prevalent complication (78.1%), while in the postoperative phase, alveolar osteitis was the most common (52.9%). Regarding academic level, 55.2% of students in the seventh semester experienced intraoperative complications and 27.6% experienced postoperative complications, whereas in the eighth semester, these figures were 45.2% and 25.8%, respectively. It was concluded that pain is the most frequent complication and that intraoperative complications are prevalent in both the seventh and eighth semesters.
