The research is basic and explanatory level. The objective of the research was the comparison of the in vitro antioxidant activity of the aqueous and hydroalcoholic extract of Curcuma longa L. "Curcuma'", collected from the department of Junín. Hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts were prepared by shaking and maceration. Antioxidant activity was evaluated with the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH) and 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazolin-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) reduction methods. The results were expressed as mean inhibitory concentration (IC50) for the DPPH and ABTS assays. It is concluded that the hydroalcoholic extract has higher antioxidant capacity by the ABTS method and the extract by the DPPH method.
