Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge regarding the prescription of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in pediatric dentistry among 7th and 8th-semester students in the Stomatology program at UPHFR. This was a basic, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 65 students from both academic semesters, who completed a questionnaire as the data collection instrument; this instrument had a Cronbach's alpha of 0.809. The results showed that 49.2% (32) of the students had a low level of knowledge, followed by 33.8% (22) with a fair level, and 16.9% (11) with a high level. Regarding gender, 51% (18) of female students demonstrated a low level of knowledge, 29% (10) a fair level, and 20% (7) a high level. Among male students, 47% (14) showed a low level of knowledge, 40% (12) a fair level, and 13% (4) a high level. It is concluded that the level of knowledge regarding the prescription of NSAIDs in pediatric dentistry is low.
