Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between social media addiction and social skills among nursing students. This was basic research employing a correlational approach and a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 132 students selected via simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out through surveys using the Social Media Addiction Questionnaire (ARS) and Goldstein's Social Skills Scale. The results revealed a very strong, significant negative correlation between the two variables (Rho = -0.892; p < 0.001). Likewise, very strong negative correlations were found between social skills and the dimensions of obsession, lack of personal control, and excessive social media use. These dimensions showed coefficients of -0.890, -0.866, and -0.886, respectively (p < 0.001). In conclusion, it was determined that higher levels of social media addiction are associated with lower levels of social skills among the students evaluated.
